Reflections

What if the path forward in architecture… was actually behind us?… We were challenged to design a new urban proposal that could grow from the existing fabric of Oaxaca. We didn't work with a blank slate or abstract theories, but with precedents, local craftsmanship, and urban patterns that have stood the test of time. Although all of this was new to me, it made perfect sense. As we worked, sketched, and explored the city, things began to fall into place. There was a clarity to it all: something about the scale, the logic, the way everything felt grounded. Unlike many current urban theories, this didn't feel abstract or forced. It felt real and obvious, like something I had always believed but hadn't been able to name… It was inspiring to learn how tradition can be a foundation for innovation, not a limitation.
